Looking for purpose

The pearl from the shelf:

“Each soul comes to the Earth with gifts…

Before it incarnates, each soul agrees to perform certain tasks upon the Earth. It enters into a sacred agreement with the Universe to accomplish specific goals…

Whatever the task that your soul has agreed to, whatever its contract with the Universe, all of the experiences of your life serve to awaken within your memory of that contract, and to prepare you to fulfill it…

When the deepest part of you becomes engaged in what you are doing, when your activities and actions become gratifying and purposeful, when what you do serves both yourself and others…  you are doing what you were meant to be doing”.

Consideration:

You will find several books and blogs that suggest that we should choose our ultimate goal, our mission, the reason why we are here, our passion, our purpose i life… But the way the above quote presents the effects of taking action on purpose is very appealing and inspiring.

Now, inspiration is not enough. We should take action.

If you are lucky enough, you are aware of your call and probably you are working on it. If for some reason you have not identified what is that task, then the following guidelines could help you to do so:

Practical guidelines:

  • Revise in your past those ocassions when you have felt totally happy while helping others
  • Identify those times when you got totally engaged in what you were doing
  • Look for that time when you felt that you couldn’t fail at all, when you didn’t experience any kind of fear
  • Verify if there is a recurrent theme in your dreams. Before going to bed leave a notebook and pen besides your bed, let your last thought be the question what is my mission and when you wake up, write down any idea or dream that you recall
  • Use any type of meditation method and while meditating ask your subconscious about your purpose in life
  • Write down what would you do in a daily basis if you had all the time and money in life
  • Write down what you would do if you knew that you were not going to fail
  • Write a daily journal and after some weeks of journaling, look for a clue within your journal
  • For any of the above exercises where you need to record any ideas, use always handwriting. Do not use a computer, PDA or similar electronic device
  • Follow the procedure that Steve Pavlina suggests in this post

There are several paths to arrive to identifying the task that your soul has agreed to. It is a personal journey. But once you have discovered your purpose, the discovery will resonate with your soul and there will not be a doubt about your true purpose.

All the best in your journey!

I like the idea of connecting with our soul purpose. When we do and are aligned, we find resources magically appearing to help us move towards it.
