Have you realized that people are tired of bloggers telling them how great and outstanding they could become?

I figured this out recently. Every time I blogged about how anyone could become great, people started to yawn…

They left this site and went to check blogs about new technologies in Techcrunch , social media news in Mashable  or the newest gizmo in Gizmodo

I wondered why people didn’t want to be great, and eventually I realized that trying to be an outstanding person can be an overwhelming task!

Nobody wants to be an outstanding person.

Even worse, nobody wants outstanding people in their lives; they only want them as heroes in history books, as characters in video games or as the stars in action movies!

So the purpose of this post is invite you to realize how great is to be just average…

Let’s see the first the benefits for being average as opposed to being outstanding and then we will see some strategies to keep “average”…

 
BENEFITS FOR BEING AVERAGE
 

Let’s consider a few important benefits for being an average person instead of an outstanding person.

 1. Average people receive retirement pensions… Outstanding people don’t.

They are killed at young ages!

 2. Average men say anything to keep the pretty girl… Outstanding people don’t. Let me give you an example that involves an outstanding British guy that you all have heard about:

Imagine a pretty girl dating this guy… he asks her to marry him;

She asks him what he has to offer…

And we can guess which would be his answer:

“I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat…”

Sir Winston Churchill’s offer wasn’t really very appealing!

 3. Average people try to get an easy way to do things… Outstanding people look for the hardest way to do it…

Let’s see an example:

In 1962 John F. Kennedy delivered a speech informing that United States would go to the Moon, his words were:
“We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…”  

So he chose to do it because it was hard?

I hate to disagree with John F. Kennedy, but I prefer the easy way…

 4. Outstanding people don’t win in real life. Do you want an example?

Outstanding people deliver memorable speeches that are quoted and repeated by everybody…

But they don’t win International speech Contests!

Their speeches become public domain and they or their inheritors cannot benefit from their wisdom!

 5. Where average people are carefree, outstanding people get in trouble!

Do you need an example again?

When an average person has a dream, he buys a book about dream interpretation
and nothing happens!

 But when an outstanding person  has a dream, he  would say:

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today!”

Yes, when Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his memorable speech; he did not win an international speech contest…

In fact, he was killed! 

Did I mention before that outstanding people don’t receive retirement pensions?

 After checking the above benefits that you can obtain when you are an average person, we are ready to examine the strategies for remaining average…

STRATEGIES TO REMAIN AVERAGE

 1. First strategy:  Don’t read. Reading is dangerous… you could get inspired and then you could get in trouble!

I can illustrate this with another example, this time, from a brother of mine…

A few years ago, my brother read one book called “Do what you love, the money will follow” , by Marsha Sinetar.

He was so inspired by the book that he gave it to his wife…

And what was the result?

They had to apply for bankruptcy protection.…

Do you know why? Because the message of the book was “Do what you love”

But the only thing my sister in law loves is shopping!

 2. Second strategy: Never leave your comfort zone.

Now, one of the most comfortable zones is a cozy couch in front of the TV:

So watch TV several hours a day until your spirit is completely dozed off.

But beware. Because, sometimes, even when watching TV you could feel an urge for doing something more fulfilling!

During these odd times, don’t move; just keep sitting still, at least until that uncomfortable feeling disappears!

 3. And finally, talk the talk, but don’t walk the walk!

Preach about everything and do nothing!

Thinking about it, maybe it is a good idea that you start to write a blog… ;)

In conclusion, being average is a great state of being. It will allow you to enjoy life carefreely, without fulfilling anything!

    Everyone has their own troubles therefore no one is outstanding, they just try to be.
    We are all average in our own ways even if some of us don’t think of ourselves as average.
    At least that’s how I see it.
